This thesis features political developments in Central and Eastern Europe region during the last two months in 1989 in leading Croatian daily newspaper (Vjesnik) and leading Serbian daily newspaper (Politika). The focus is put on the timeline between 1 November and 31 December in 1989 because of the intensity of political turmoil and social changes that occur at that time in countries in Central and Eastern Europe where the Communist Party has a leading role in the society. In order to understand better how were the events, that denoted the end of the Cold War, reported in the leading printed matter in Yugoslavia, mentioned newspaper were submitted to quantitative and qualitative analysis. Analysed articles that depicted the state in German Democratic Republic, the Polish People's Republic, the Hungarian People's Republic, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, the People's Republic of Bulgaria and the Socialist Republic of Romania, in the time period from 1 November to 31 December 1989. The aim of the thesis was to explain what topics were present in published newspaper issues and whether some topics, events and processes are represented in one newspaper, more than in the other. The results of the analysis note that there were differences in reporting in mentioned newspaper. The differences are primarily detected in the way it is looked at certain events and processes, in other words, in the perspectives of authors of these articles.
