Abstract
U ovome radu se istražuje suvremeni obred inicijacije u sazrijevanju pripadnika plemena Mandinka u Senegalu. Etnografski dio istraživanja se temelji na polustrukturirnim intervjuima pripadnika naroda Mandinka iz Senegala. Kroz analizu obreda te njegovog povijesnog i kulturnog konteksta, istražuje se koliko su se očuvali tradicijski obrasci, kulturne prakse i kozmologija ovog obreda u suvremenom društvu. Analizira se i utjecaj obreda na zajednicu Mandinka te posebno na inicirane mladiće koji prolaze kroz ovaj ključni životni trenutak. Istraživanje je pokazalo kontinuitet triju ključnih dionica strukture inicijacijskih obreda, unatoč društvenim i političkim promjenama koje su se dogodile tijekom vremena. Potvrđena je i važna uloga maskirnog lika Kuaranga u suvremenosti čije je postojanje povezano s tradicijskim vjerovanjima naroda Mandinka. Obred pokazuje kako različite religijske tradicije, animizam i islam, među pripadnicima naroda Mandinka koegzistiraju i nadopunjuju se.
Abstract (english)
This thesis examines the contemporary initiation ritual in the maturation in the community of Mandinka people in Senegal. The ethnographic part of the thesis is based on semi-structured interviews with the members of the Mandinka people in Senegal. Through the analysis of the ritual and its historical and cultural context, the author examines to what extent the traditional patterns, cultural practices and cosmology of this ritual have been preserved in contemporary society. The impact of the ritual on the Mandinka community and especially on the initiated young men who go through this crucial moment in life is also analyzed. The research has shown the survival of three key structural parts of initiation rites, despite the social and political changes that have occurred over time. The important role of the masked figure of the Kuarang in the present time, whose existence relates to the traditional beliefs of the Mandinka people, was also confirmed. The ritual shows how different religious traditions, animism, and Islam, coexist, and complement each other among the members of the Mandinka people.
