This paper focuses on German language projects with special emphasis on projects Theaterspiele and Max sucht den Superstar (I and II) that take place in the area of Varaždin County. The theoretical part of the paper is based on the analysis of the school curricula of primary and secondary schools in Varaždin County for the school year 2022/2023. In accordance with the results of this analysis, in the paper, the projects are interpreted as extracurricular projects. In the theoretical part of the paper, first, the fundamental characteristics of extracurricular activities are described and then the emphasis is placed on the project as one of the methods used to execute work in extracurricular activities. Considering the type of each investigated project, the paper also points out numerous advantages of using drama pedagogy and music in the process of learning a foreign language. The empirical part of the paper presents qualitative research conducted in the form of a case study. The goal of the research was to determine the fundamental aspects and specifics of organizing and participating in the projects Theaterspiele and Max sucht den Superstar (I and II). The sample in the case of Theaterspiele consisted of the project manager and three German language teachers, while the sample in the case of Max sucht den Superstar (I and II) included the project manager at the primary school level, the project manager at the secondary school level and four German language teachers. A semi-structured interview was used in the research. Research results showed that the organization of the projects is successful and that the projects include different student profiles. In addition, the projects increase the motivation of the students to learn the German language and they contribute to German language acquisition and the personal and social development of the students.
