Abstract
S pojavom sve većeg broja farmaceutika u okolišu do izražaja dolazi problem njihove prisutnosti i u vodama te njihovo neučinkovito uklanjanje konvencionalnim metodama obrade voda. Gotovo je nemoguće pratiti gdje sve dospijevaju farmaceutici i u kojim se koncentracijama nalaze. Tako nisu niti u potpunosti ispitani potencijalni negativni utjecaji na ekosustav. Antibiotici su jedna od najvažnijih skupina farmaceutika čijim se akumuliranjem u okolišu pojavljuje problem otpornosti mikroorganizama na antibiotike. Trimetoprim je upravo jedan od antibiotika na koji se sve više razvija otpornost. Kao obećavajuće metode razgradnje trimetoprima pokazali su se napredni oksidacijski procesi. Cilj ovog rada bio je napraviti pregled literature u kojoj je istražena razgradnja trimetoprima naprednim oksidacijskim procesima i razgradnja drugih farmaceutika fotokatalitičkom razgradnjom. Nakon pregleda napravljen je osvrt i predložen potencijalni put istraživanja fotokatalitičke razgradnje trimetoprima.
Abstract (english)
With the emergence of an increasing number of pharmaceuticals in the environment, the problem of their presence in water and their inefficient removal by conventional water treatment methods comes to the fore. It is almost impossible to keep track of where all pharmaceuticals end up and in what concentrations they are. Also, the potential negative impacts on the ecosystem have not been fully investigated yet. Antibiotics are one of the most important groups of pharmaceuticals. Their accumulation in the environment causes the problem of antibiotic resistance of microorganisms. Trimethoprim is one of the antibiotics to which resistance is increasingly developing. Advanced oxidation processes have been shown to be promising methods for the degradation of trimethoprim. The aim of this study was to review the literature in which the degradation of trimethoprim by advanced oxidation processes and the degradation of other pharmaceuticals by photocatalytic degradation was investigated. In conclusion a potential pathway for investigating the photocatalytic degradation of trimethoprim was proposed.
