Abstract
Rad donosi trenutnu razinu znanja o poliamidnim membranama (poluaromatskim i potpuno aromatskim) pregled teoretskog istraživanja njihove kemije, priprave, strukture, morfoloških i poroznih karakteristika njihovog aktivnog separacijskog sloja sve do molekularne razine. Navedeno se temelji na nedavnom razvoju razumijevanja procesa međufazne polimerizacije, reakcija, pakiranja i umrežavanja polimernih građevnih blokova, formiranja i raspodjele skupina naboja i interakcije nastale polimerne mreže s vodom i ionima. Dosljednu racionalizaciju superiornih karakteristika poliamidne separacijske barijere daje objedinjena slika višerazmjerne nano i molekularne strukture poliamidnih tankih filmova s makrorazmjernim karakteristikama. Takav okvir pruža i uvid u svojstvene slabosti poliamida i izazove prevladavanja ograničenja i razvoja održivih alternativa. Također, rad daje pregled povijesnog razvoja membrana i mogućnosti za daljnja istraživanja i napredak, kao i mogućnosti recikliranja membrana.
Abstract (english)
The paper brings the current level of knowledge about polyamide membranes (semi – aromatic and fully aromatic), an overwiew of theoretical research into their chemistry, preparation, structure, morphological and porous characteristics of their active separation layer down to the molecular level. The above is based on the recent development of the understanding of the process of interphase polymerization, reaction, packing and cross – linking of polymer building blocks, formation and distribution of charge groups and the interaction of the resulting polymer network with water and ions. A consistent rationalization of the superior characteristics of the polyamide separation barrier is provided by a unified picture of the multiscale nano and molecular structure of polyamide thin films with macroscale characteristics. Such a framework also provides insight into the inherent weaknesses of polyamides and the challenges of overcoming limitations and developing sustainable alternatives. Also, the paper provides an overview of the historical development of membranes and the possibilities for further research and progress, as well as possibilities of membrane recycling.
