Abstract
Velike količine ugljikovog dioksida, CO2, u atmosferi su zabrinjavjauće i traže brzo i efikasno rješenje. Kroz rad su istaknuti energetski zahtjevi i problemi onečišćenja okoliša, poznate tehnologije hvatanja i transporta CO2. Fotokatalitičke metode nemaju negativan utjecaj na okoliš, te je fotokatalitička redukcija CO2 atraktivna metoda koja je privukla veliku pažnju znanstvenika. U radu je objašnjen mehanizam fotokatalize na titanijevom dioksidu, TiO2, metalnim oksidima, metalnim sulfidima i drugim poluvodičima. Produkt koji se dobiva fotokatalitičkom redukcijom CO2 u najvećim količinama je metan, ali prisutni su i različiti C2 i C3 spojevi koji sadrže veliku količinu energije u svojim vezama. Istraživanja su usmjerena na razvoj novih nanostruktura fotokatalizatora, istraživanje mehanizma reakcije, apsorpcije svjetla i separacije naboja. Nedostatak procesa fotokatalize CO2 je mala selektivnost i nedovoljna količina dobivenog produkta za komercijalnu upotrebu procesa.
Abstract (english)
High levels of carbon dioxide, CO2, in the atmosphere are concerning and they need a quick and effective solution. This paper is explaining energy consumption and environmental problems, technologies for catching and transporting CO2. Photocatalytic methods don't have a negative effect on nature, so the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 has become an attractive method with the increasing interest of scientists. Mechanisms of photocatalysis on titanium dioxide, TiO2, metal oxides, metal sulfides, and other semiconductors are explained. Reaction produces methane in the highest amounts, but C2 and C3 compounds can also be present. Products of photocatalytic reduction of CO2 can store a great amount of energy in their chemical bonds. Modern researches are focused on developing new nanostructures of semiconductors, explaining the reaction mechanism, light apsorption, and charge separation. The downside of photocatalytic reduction of CO2 is low selectivity and a small amount of gained product.
