Abstract
Razvojem industrije i društvenih zajednica povećava se čovjekov utjecaj na okoliš. Jedan od procesa koji se svakodnevno odvija oko nas i uzrokuje propadanje metala, a može dovesti do onečišćenja okoliša jest korozija. Kako bi se produljio vijek trajanja metalnih konstrukcija, često se primjenjuju različite tehnike zaštite od korozije. Jedna od njih je i modificiranje površine metala samoorganizirajućim monoslojem (SAM) organske kiseline. Molekule koje imaju sposobnost formiranja uređenih samoorganizirajućih zaštitnih filmova sastoje se od dvije funkcionalne skupine; adhezijska skupina odgovorna je za adsorpciju na površinu supstrata, a završna skupina određuje svojstva modificirane površine. U odnosu na druge metode modifikacije metalnih površina, prednost SAM-ova je ta što su potrebne male količine organskih spojeva za prekrivanje površine metala, jednostavno se pripremaju te nastaju spontano kemisorpcijom molekula na čvrsti supstrat. U ovom radu ispitan je utjecaj otapala na svojstva samoorganizirajućeg monosloja oktadecil fosfonske kiseline dobivenog pri različitim uvjetima pripreme uzoraka. Na temelju rezultata dobivenih elektrokemijskim mjerenjima i analizom površinskih karakteristika, određeni su uvjeti pripreme sloja oktadecil fosfonske kiseline, koji omogućuje dobru zaštitu čelika od korozije u kloridnom mediju.
Abstract (english)
The development of industries and social communities increases the human impact on the environment. One of the processes that occurs daily around us, that causes the destruction of metals and environmental pollution, is known as a corrosion. In order to prolong the endurance of metal constructions, different techniques are used to protect them from corrosion. Metal surface modification with a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) is one of these techniques. Molecules that have the ability to form well ordered, self-assembled protective films are composed of two functional groups; the head-group is responsible for the adsorption on the surface and the end-group determines the properties of the modified surface. Compared to other methods of metal surface modification, there are many advantages of SAM’s –only a small amount of organic compounds is needed to cover the metal surface, they can be easily prepared and they form through the chemisorption of molecules on the solid substrate. This work describes the influence of solvents on the properties of octadecylphosphonic acid SAM’s under different conditions of sample preparation. Based on the results obtained by electrochemical measurements and analysis of surface properties, the optimal conditions for formation of organic film, that provides high corrosion protection to steel in chloride medium, have been determined.
