Electrospinning is a technique that uses electrostatic forces to produce fibers with diameters ranging from 2 nm to several micrometers from polymeric solutions or melts. Over the last decades, there is a growing research of technique because of the application of nanofibrous structures as scaffolds for tissue engineering. The tissue engineering strategy is based on the repair and regeneration of damaged tissues in way that we first take the cells from patient by biopsy, then we isolate and sow on the 3D scaffold. Various natural and synthetic polymers are used as scaffolds. In this study, polycaprolactone (PCL) was used for electrospinning of scaffolds with different geometry. By electrospinning process of PCL a scaffold with smooth surface was formed on rotating cylinder, which was used as a reference sample. The other six scaffolds are electrospun on 3D printed collectors with different geometries, resulting in three scaffolds with parallel ducts and three with quadratic wells. This specific topography of electrospun fibrous scaffolds is required to allow growth and migration of the sown fibroblast cells, forming a tissue of a certain 3D microgeometry. The fiber morphology was determined by SEM analysis, pore size distribution by BET method and interactions on surface were tested by the contact angle measurement method with water. The SEM analysis showed a high porosity of electrospun scaffolds. The BET method determined that the mean pore diameters are very small, but specific surface is very large.The result of the measurement of the contact angle showed a high hydrophobicity of the PCL scaffolds, which makes it important to treat the PCL scaffolds before its application, to increase hydrophilicity and improve the interaction of the cells and scaffolds.
