Abstract
Otpad nastaje kao posljedica svih ljudskih aktivnosti, a njegovo djelovanje može uzrokovati emisije u vode, zrak i tlo, koje mogu štetno utjecati na zdravlje ljudi i okoliš. Koliki će taj utjecaj biti, ovisi o količini i svojstvima otpada te načinu na koji se njime gospodari. Prema redu prvenstva gospodarenja otpadom, prioritet je sprečavanje nastanka otpada, potom slijedi priprema za ponovnu uporabu, zatim recikliranje, dok je postupak energetske oporabe otpada i odlaganje otpada, najmanje poželjan postupak gospodarenja otpadom. Miješani komunalni otpad je otpad iz kućanstva i otpad iz trgovina, industrije i iz ustanova koji je po svojstvima i sastavu sličan otpadu iz kućanstva, a iz kojeg posebnim postupkom nisu izdvojeni pojedini materijali (npr. papir, staklo i dr.). Izdvajanje iskoristivih komponenti u Republici Hrvatskoj je na razini od cca 15 %, što znači da veći dio komunalnog otpada, od cca 1.700.000 tona/godišnje, završava na odlagalištima i da se ne poštuje red prvenstva gospodarenja komunalnim otpadom. U ovom radu će se jednostavnim načinom prikazati energetski potencijal miješanog komunalnog otpada na primjeru dostupnih podataka u Republici Hrvatskoj, te iznijeti prednosti zbrinjavanja otpada njegovim spaljivanjem nasprem odlaganja na odlagalištima.
Abstract (english)
Waste is the result of all human activities, and its action can cause emissions to water, air and soil, which can adversely affect human health and the environment. What will its impact be, depends on the amount and characteristics of the waste and the way in which it operates. According to the priority of waste management, priority is to prevent waste, followed by reuse preparation, then recycling, while the process of energy recovery and waste disposal is the least desirable waste management process. Mixed municipal waste is waste from households and waste from commerce, industry and institutions that is similar in nature and composition to household waste, and which are not separated by certain materials (eg. paper, glass, etc.). The share of usable components in the Republic of Croatia is about 15 %, which means that most of the municipal waste end on landfills, which is about 1,700,000 tons per year and that the priority of municipal waste management is not respected. In this paper, the energy potential of municipal waste can be illustrated in a simple way on the example of available data in the Republic of Croatia, and the advantages of waste disposal by burning it to disposal at landfills.
