Abstract
Nitrofurantoin je farmaceutski aktivna tvar koja se najčešće koristi za liječenje infekcija mokraćnog sustava uzrokovanih bakterijom Escherichia coli. Pripada skupini nitrofurana čiji mehanizam djelovanja još uvijek nije poznat. Veliki problem predstavlja njegova potencijalna opasnost za zdravlje zbog mogućih kancerogenih i mutagenih djelovanja spojeva. U upotrebi je vrlo kratko, samo nekoliko desetljeća, pa nam uz mehanizam djelovanja nije poznato niti njegovo ponašanje u okolišu. Upravo iz tog razloga, da bi saznali utjecaj nitrofurantoina na okoliš, ispitivali smo njegovu sorpciju na 7 različitih uzoraka tla prikupljenih s područja Republike Hrvatske. Parametri sorpcije nitrofurantoina opisani su Freundlichovom i Dubinin–Radushkevichevom izotermom. Dobiveni koeficijenti sorpcije, Kd za sedam uzoraka tla kreću se u rasponu od 3,634–43,055 mL/g. Također su ispitane i fizikalno–kemijske karakteristike tla, utjecaj ionske jakosti na stupanj sorpcije, utjecaj promjene pH vrijednosti na sorpciju nitrofurantoina te sama kinetika procesa sorpcije. Rezultati ispitivanja pokazuju da se povećanjem ionske jakosti i povećanjem pH vrijednosti koeficijent sorpcije smanjuje.
Abstract (english)
Nitrofurantoin is a pharmaceutical active substance which is most commonly used for treating of urinary infections caused by bacteria Escherichia coli. It belongs to the group of nitrofurans whose mechanism of activity is still unknown. Its potential danger to health due to many cancerogenic and mutagenic bonds respresents a huge problem. It has been used for a short period of time (a few decades only) so neither its mechanisam of activity nor its behaviour in the environment is known. In order to find out its affect on the environment we have examined its sorption on 7 different soil samples taken in the area of the Republic of Croatia. The perimeters of nitrofurantoin sorption are described by Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm. Obtained sorption coefficients, Kd, for seven soil samples range from 3.634 to 43.055 mL/g. The physical–chemical features of the soil, the influence of ionic strength and the influence in the change of pH value on the sorption of nitrofurantoin have also been examined. The results show that by the increase of ionic strength and pH value the sorption coefficient decreases.
