Abstract
Srednjovjekovna utvrda Ružica grad jedan je od najvećih srednjovjekovnih fortifikacijskih kompleksa u Hrvatskoj i nalazi u blizini grada Orahovice. Smještena je između sjevernih obronaka Papuka i Krndije i prostire se na površini od 8000 m2 na 378 metara nadmorske visini. Orahovačka utvrda (castrum Rohocha) prvi se put spominje u ispravi kralja Karla Roberta 20. veljače 1321. Prvobitnu utvrdu stekao je 1347. velikaš Lovro Tot: njegovi potomci, koji su od ranog 15. stoljeća poznati kao Iločki, drže je sve do 1524. U 16. stoljeću zaposjeli su je i opustošili Turci. Poslije 1690. godine orahovačka tvrđava i utvrđeni dvor bila je napuštena i u ruševnom stanju bez vrata, prozora i krova. Od 1960. do 1980. provođeni su opsežni konzervatorsko-restauratorski radovi kada je cjelokupno područje očišćeno od vegetacije, zidovi su obnovljeni i učvršćeni i podovi prekriveni zemljom.
Abstract (english)
The medieval fortress Ružica grad is one of the largest fortification complexes from the medieval period in Croatia located in the proximity of town of Orahovica. Iti s situated between the northern slopes of Papuk and Krndija and spans over an area of 8000 m on an altitude of 378 meters. The Orahovica fortress (castrum Rohocha) is first mentioned in a document by King Charles Robert on February 20, 1321. The initial fortress was acquired in 1347 by the nobleman Lovro Tot; his descendants, who have been known as the Iločki family since the early 15th century, held it until 1524. In the 16th century, it was seized and ravaged by the Turks. After 1690, the Orahovica fortress and the fortified manor were abandoned and left in a ruined state, without doors, windows, or a roof. From 1960 to 1980, conservation and restoration work and excavations were carried out. The area was cleared of vegetation, the walls were restored and reinforced, and the floors were covered with soil.
