Freight forwarding is a job wich deals with shipping and delivering of goods in international traffic of goods. A freight forwarder is a coordinator shipments for his clients. His expertise i capability while performing all similar jobs on an international level is extremly important, and it is considered that the more services a freight forwarder posseses in his inventory, the better. Because of the increased complexity of market demands, his group of services is becoming more and more complex, as is his role within logistics, wich is becoming all the more important. A port can be defined as a place of exchange of goods or passengers between ships and/or land transport vehicles. Ports have developed into logistics – distribution centers wich are not only terminals in water traffic anymore and are no longer specialised only in in shipping and delivery of goods, but they also have a wide array of services wich they provide within their area. In water (port) traffic, a freight forwarder does all the jobs connected with water traffic, but also with shipping of goods inland. Logistics funcitons of freight forwarders and all the jobs which they perform within a certain port logistics sytem are intertwined and they depend on the conditions wich are placed before them.
