Abstract
Namjera diplomskog rada je istražiti koji su faktori utjecali na urušavanje demokracije u Venezueli, jednoj od najstabilnijih i najnaprednijih demokracija u Latinskom Americi. Zbog opsežnosti teme, rad će se fokusirati na razdoblje od 1983. do 2013. godine. Želi se ponuditi što opsežniji opis situacije i čimbenika koji su utjecali na proces propadanja režima. Zbog toga će se korištenjem metode studije slučaja analizirati situacije na političkoj, ekonomskoj i društvenoj razini, s naglaskom na glavne faktore i mehanizme koji su uzrokovali urušavanje sustava. Nakon kratkog povijesnog pregleda i identificiranja kritičnih točaka lomova, slijedi pregled radova koji se bave ovom tematikom podijeljen prema razini proučavanja. Na kraju, rad potvrđuje tezu da je glavni razlog urušavanja demokracije uništenje političkih, društvenih i ekonomskih temelja koji su omogućili njeno funkcioniranje.
Abstract (english)
This thesis wants to explore what factors have led to the collapse of democracy in Venezuela, as one of the most stable and advanced democracies in Latin America. Due to the extensiveness of the subject, the paper will focus on the period from 1983 to 2013. It wants to give a comprehensive description of the situation and listing of factors that have influenced the process of the disintegration of the regime. For this reason, the case study methodology will be used to analyze the situation on political, economic and social levels, with emphasis on the main factors and mechanisms that have caused the system to crumble. After a brief historical review and identification of critical points of fractures, the review of the works dealing with this topic is then divided by the level of study. Finally, the paper confirms that the main reason for the collapse of democracy is the destruction of the political, social and economic foundations that have enabled its functioning.
