Social networks provide an opportunity for individuals and organizations to promote their ideas and opinions through digital channels and to form a virtual community of like-minded people - followers, who are not geographically conditioned, and they provide their support through likes, comments and content sharing. The aim of this paper was to determine, on the example of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whether social networks today play important role in promoting the Grassroots movements. The theoretical part is based on professional literature and research, and the research part of the paper is based on case analysis that was applied to the documentary Knock Down The House and profiles of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on social networks, Instagram and Twitter. The analysis showed that Ocasio-Cortez uses social networks to promote Grassroots organizing in an educational way because she shares useful information with followers on how to make changes at the local level and highlights the benefits community can have. In her profile description on Instagram and Twitter, Ocasio-Cortez presents herself to millions of followers as "100% Grassroots", and in the documentary Knock Down The House we can see what kind of engagement is needed to realize campaign in the Grassroots way. Highlighting good examples of Grassroots initiatives and encouraging young people to become activists through two extremely popular social networks among young people, she sets herself up as an ambassador for Grassroots initiatives and social networks allow her to share her ideas and opinions with her followers on the subject at any time.
