Abstract
Rad se bavi reprezentacijom žena u hrvatskim dnevnim novinama. S obzirom da brojna istraživanja potvrđuju da žene i muškarci još uvijek nisu ostvarili jednakost u društvu te da žene nisu toliko medijski zastupljene kao muškarci, ovim istraživanjem željelo se istražiti kako su žene predstavljene u Jutarnjem i Večernjem listu. Istraživanje se temelji na rezultatima analize sadržaja koja je provedena na uzorku članaka u Jutarnjem i Večernjem listu u kojima se spominju žene. Analiza je provedena u razdoblju od tri mjeseca 2015. godine (travanj, kolovoz, prosinac). Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da su žene najčešće reprezentirane kao osobe iz showbiza, a najmanje se spominju žene znanstvenice. Također, uočeno je da se žene i dalje prikazuju u lakim temama jer se najviše objavljenih članaka u kojima se spominju žene nalazi u rubrici Scena/spektakli. Žene su slabo zastupljene kao stručnjakinje i komentatorice društvenih zbivanja od kojih se traži izjava o određenoj temi te kao predstavnice javnog mnijenja. Rad je pokazao da se žene i dalje ne smatra relevantnim osobama na javnoj sceni te da su mediji zakazali u promicanju ravnopravnosti u reprezentaciji muškaraca i žena.
Abstract (english)
The paper deals with the representation of women in the Croatian daily newspapers. Considering that numerous studies confirm that women and men have not yet achieved equality in our society, and that women are not as media-represented as men, this study was to explore how women are portrayed in Jutarnji and Večernji list. The study is based on the results of content analysis, which was conducted on a sample of articles in which women were mentioned in Jutarnji and Večernji list. The analysis was conducted for a period of three months of 2015 (April, August, December). The results show that women are usually represented as celebrities, and they are least represented as scientists. Also, it is noticable that women appear mostly in stories which could be categorized as soft news because most published articles that mention women are located in the section „Show biz/ Spectacles. Women are poorly represented as experts and commentators of social events who are asked to make a statement on a particular topic, and as representatives of public opinion. The work has shown that women are still not considered to be relevant in the public arena and the media failed to promote equality in the representation of men and women.
