The journalistic profession in Croatia has been a constant theme of scientific and academic research and in the same time there is a lot of unknown issues about that profession. Because of media trends and media environment, which changes frequently, all present research could soon become irrelevant. So far, in Croatia there are only research of public opinion and how audience sees Croatian journalists and journalistic profession. Also, there exsists a lot of content analysis which are focused on daily newspapers and their ethical errors. Representative research of Croatian journalists and editors don't really exist. Therefore, in this research, we will explore the journalistic profession through interviews of chief editors in two Croatian daily newspapers - Večernji list and 24sata. Further, this paper examines some of the main topics that are related to today's journalism in Croatian daily newspapers. Some of topics are: quality of journalism, ethics and freedom of newspaper, potential impact on editors, impact on newspaper's content and current media trends that can be found in today's daily newspapers. Through collected answers of chief editors, we will elaborate their perception of the journalistic profession. Also, based on their responses, we will analyse our six hypotheses of this research. This paper will present so far unexplored side of Croatian journalism, the side of journalistic professionals.
