Abstract
Putem ovog istraživanja željelo se dokazati kako Hollywood kroz popularne filmske franšize nastoji predstaviti određene povijesne osobe, događaje ili zajednice u cijelosti te tako dati kritiku društva. To je učinjeno na studiji slučaja filmskog serijala X-Men pozivajući se i na njegove stripovske temelje u vidu afroameričke borbe za prava '60-ih godina prošloga stoljeća. Uz to, željelo se pridonijeti i popularizaciji popularne geopolitike u Hrvatskoj gdje ona nije toliko raširena koliko u svijetu. Rad je napisan uz analizu i sintezu sekundarnih izvora koji su korišteni kao teorijski okvir te putem kvalitativne metode jer je odgledano i analizirano devet filmova iz ovog filmskog serijala. Rezultati istraživanja ispunili su postavljene ciljeve i potvrdili su početnu tezu rada te su konkretno prikazane povijesne osobe kao i manjinske zajednice koje su metaforički predstavljene u filmovima. Također, budući da je polazna literatura bila na engleskom jeziku, u ovom radu dio pojmova koji se koriste u analizi kroz popularnu geopolitiku preveden je na hrvatski jezik.
Abstract (english)
Through this research I wanted to show how Hollywood, through the popular movie franchises, seeks to present certain historical people, events or communities in their entirety and thus give a critique of the society. This was done through a case study of the X-Men film series, and also referring to their comic book basis in the form of an African-American struggle for rights in the 1960s. In addition, I wanted to contribute to the popularization of popular geopolitics in Croatia where it is not as widespread as in the rest of the world. The paper was written with the analysis and synthesis of secondary sources, which were used as the theoretical framework and through qualitative methods, as nine films from this film series were viewed and analyzed. The results of the research fulfilled the set goals and confirmed the initial thesis of the work, and historical figures as well as minority communities metaphorically represented in the films were presented. Also, since the initial literature was in English, in this paper some of the terms used in analysis through popular geopolitics are translated into Croatian.
