This paper studies the role of violence in anime, specifically on example of Attack on titan. The research was conducted by online survey, where people who watched anime Attack on Titan gave their opinion on violence, as well as the feelings and reactions they experienced while watching violence in the series. Two out of four hypotheses were confirmed in the research; we found out that people who watched Attack on Titan see Attack on titan as a violent anime, but the violence is not the primary reason why they decided to watch it. Regarding the impact of violence on their thinking and behavior, it was found that the vast majority of respondents (78.9%) think violence they've seen in Attack not had no effect on their thinking or behavior, however only less then third of respondents (32.9%) said the same goes for other viewers. In the last hypothesis, where we asked the respondents to give opinion on the development of tolerance on violence in Attack on Titan, it was confirmed that respondents recognized they have become less sensitive to violence the longer they watched the series. While analyzing responses, it also became notable that respondents placed great emphasis on the context: In Attack on titan the respondents saw violence as a part of narrative, i.e. the respondents did not recognize violence as the main feature of the series.
