The subject of this thesis is numerical analysis of structures designed by the method of tensile triangles. Method of tensile triangles is numerical method commonly used by designers and engineers who don't have access to expensive programs for numerical analysis. Method of tensile triangles is copied from trees. The aim of this thesis is that for arbitrarily defined console dimensions with adjustable cross-section, where transition from bigger to smaller diameter will be designed like round fillet, elliptical fillet and fillet defined with method of tensile triangles, numerical analysis has to be conducted with software package Abaqus. At the end it is necessary to compare the resulting stress concentration factors. Whole thesis is devided into nine bigger parts. In the first, introductory part, problems are briefly explained thus creating an introduction for further work. In the second part, proces of product design and development and stages that follows it are described. It was important that in this part of the thesis, stages of designing and creating ideas are described and one of the best ways to collect ideas is from nature. The third part describes biomimicry and some of the best known examples of biomimicry including learning from trees thus creating an introduction to the fourth part of the thesis. In the fourth part, method of tensile triangles is described in detail and examples are given for the application of the method. The fifth part consists of analytical calculation of bending console with constant cross-section, and in the sixth part this analytical calculation is confirmed by numerical analysis in the software package Abaqus. The seventh part, as the core of this work, contained a numerical calculation of bending console with variable cross-section. In this section stress concentration factors have been calculated analytically and numerically. In the eighth part, comparison of stress concentration factors for different fillets; circular fillet, elliptical fillet and the fillet defined with method of tensile triangles have been done and in the ninth part, conclusion was drawn about the results.
