Determination of material behaviour under multiaxial load is a challenge to many researchers since most of the engineering structures and components are subject to complex loading regimes during their exploatation. Due to the unavailability of the mulitaxial testing machines there is not sufficient experimental data considering material behaviour under proportional and unproportional complex loading conditions. Consequently, the majority of the experimental investigations are performed on the uniaxial mechanical testing devices since they are defined by coresponding norms. While conducting multiaxial tests it is not possible to measure with classic extensometers. However, strain gauges are used instead. They are positioned on predicted critical areas of the test sample. The strain gauges can only obtain material response only in a few points of the specimen. Thus it yields as their disadvantage since it is impossible to predict location of damage initiation. With the development of full-field measurement techinques (i.e. methods applied to determine displacement and/or strain fields) it is possible to analyze material behavious in the whole zone of interest. The most widely applied optical method in experimental mechanics community for measuring displacement and strain fields is digital image correlation (DIC). Furthermore, prescribing the boundary conditions, measured via proposed method, onto finite element models enables identification of constitutive law parameters. Moreover, it is possible to access stress distibution on different test samples subjected to mulitaxial loading regimes. In this work, three experiments have been conducted on uniaxial testing machine with application of the newly developed multiaxial Arcan rigs. Coresponding butterfly samples made from DC01 steel were investigated under tensile, shear and combined loading regimes. The combined loading is defined with equally prescribed tensile and shear loadings. Hence, the multiaxial grips were rotated for 45° with respect to loading axis of the testing. During proposed investigation a stereo optical measuring system Aramis was used to capture displacements and strains of the observed zone of interest. The measured displacement and strain fields have been used to analyze the out of plane bending phenomena occuring on the butterfly samples under three proposed load regimes.
