The main aim of this thesis is to design a heavy duty gantry crane for lifting and transmition of massive working equipment and machines inside an industrial hall. Taking into a consideration that the hall is constructed as light construction, and therefore the setting of the rails upon the walls of the hall isn not possible, the task requires an execution of the crane in the gantry version. The required range of the gantry crane bridge is 24 meters, and the height of the lifting load is 12 meters. The heaviest load that the crane can lift weighs 70 tons. Cargo handling is executed with a standard hook. The gantry crane operates in heavy duty conditions, however, it is placed inside a hall, so the existing atmospheric conditions can be neglected. In the first part of the thesis, an analysis of the existing structural versions of the gantry cranes has been carried out with the purpose of electing the optimal structural solution for given project parameters. In the second part of the thesis, a detailed calculation of the load lifting element for the chosen conceptual solution has been carried out, as well as the analytical calculation of the trolley load-bearing structure and the gantry crane. Furthermore, the selection of corresponding load lifting, as well as the trolley drive and gantry crane has been made. This thesis is concluded with a CAD model and required technical documentation in the Solidworks program.
