Abstract
Titan i Ti-legure najzastupljeniji su materijali na tržištu implantata zbog njihovih superiornih mehaničkih svojstava, biokompatibilnosti i kemijske postojanosti. Posjeduju modul elastičnosti znatno veći od onoga kosti što može prilikom funkcijskog opterećenja dovesti do atrofije koštanog tkiva oko implantata. Uzrok tome je efekt prigušenja opterećenja koji stimulira prilagodbu kosti novoj raspodijeli opterećenja. Lijevanje titana je složen postupak te se mora odvijati u zaštitnoj atmosferi zbog visokog afiniteta titana prema kisiku na povišenoj temperaturi. U ovom radu razvijan je titan-magnezijev kompozit proizveden metalurgijom praha, čiji je sastav i strukturu nemoguće postići tradicionalnim metodama. Uslijed sadržaja magnezija, karakteristike kompozita obuhvaćaju manju gustoću, niži modul elastičnosti te potencijalno bolji oseointegracijski kapacitet. Karakterizacija svojstava provedena je prema zahtjevima za implantate. Malo je dostupnih informacija o sličnim istraživanjima, a koncept izrade implantata ovom metodom gotovo je nepoznat.
Abstract (english)
Titanium and its alloys are dominant materials on implant market due to superiority of their mechanical properties, biocompatibility and corrosion behavior. Their elastic modulus is significantly higher than of bone which may result in periimplant bone atrophy during functional loading. This is caused by stress-shielding effect which causes bone adaptation to new load distribution. Titanium casting is a complex process conducted in protective atmosphere, due to its high oxygen affinity at elevated temperatures. New titaniummagnesium composite produced by powder metallurgy methods with composition and structure different to traditional implant alloys, will be investigated. Due to magnesium content, properties of composite will include lower density and elastic modulus with better osseointegration potential. Material characterization will be conducted according to implant material standards. Information concerning similar studies is scarce, and concept of proposed implant material production almost unknown.
