Formula Student is the most prominent educational engineering competition in Europe held every year. The purpose of the competition is to encourage critical thinking and introduce new technologies and best solutions for specific problems in the design and production of a racing car. The emphasis is on engineering solutions, as well as the performance of the car, which serves as an indicator of the concept's success. The car's performance depends on a large number of parameters, with some of these parameters being determined by strict regulations that specify basic dimensions and technical specifications. This work provides guidelines and limitations for the design and construction of the chassis and propulsion system of a Formula Student car according to the competition regulations. Possible concepts for the electric racing car's propulsion system are presented and analyzed. The goal of the design is to appropriately place key components of the propulsion system within the vehicle's chassis. Based on an analysis of design solutions, the possibilities for the placement of other vehicle systems' components and the driver's accommodation, as well as an analysis of potential performance, the selection of the best solution is made. Competitive cars, their technical characteristics, and the results achieved at the largest European competition held in 2022 are also analyzed. The conceptual design of the current FSB Racing Team car is presented, and potential improvements for the cars of the next generation are proposed based on the conducted analyses.
