Abstract Doba Interneta i primjena suvremenih informacijsko-komunikacijskih tehnologija (ICT) u hotelskom poslovanju nepovratno su preokrenuli neke od temeljnih koncepata suvremenog hotelskog poslovanja. S Internetom i suvremenim ICT-om gotovo se sve hotelske operacije događaju u stvarnom vremenu, pa smo tako svakodnevno svjedoci "real time" poslovanju i to od prodaje kapaciteta, preko upravljanja poslovnim rezultatom do konstantne interakcije sa gostima i zaposlenicima, ali i s ostalim dionicima poslovne izvrsnosti hotela. Interesi vlasnika s jedne strane, radnika s druge, gostiju s treće i društva s četvrte strane dovode današnjeg hotelskog menadžera u poziciju da samo kontinuiranim i uravnoteženim upravljanjem interesnim zonama svih dionika modernog poslovanja dovodi svoj hotel u zonu dugoročne stabilnosti te potencijalnog i perspektivnog rasta. Temeljem te premise je nastao i model poslovne izvrsnosti HOBEM (Hotel Operation Business Excelence Model). Svrha ovog doktorskog rada je bila istražiti poslovnu izvrsnost hotela zasebno, ali i u kontekstu stalnog i brzog razvoja ICT, odnosno utjecaja ICT-a na samu hotelsku izvrsnost, stoga je pored modela poslovne izvrsnosti hotela u ovom radu obrađen i postavljen model ICT izvrsnosti hotela, a sve kako bi se stvorila osnova za potvrđivanje nulte hipoteze rada koja glasi: "Hoteli koji u modelu bodovanja postižu bolje rezultate, odnosno više razine izvrsnosti informacijsko-komunikacijske infrastrukture, imaju višu razinu rezultata poslovne izvornosti koji proizlaze iz modela poslovne izvrsnosti temeljenog na upravljačkim alatima, aktivnostima i pokazateljima uspješnosti hotelskih operacija". Prikazani rezultati istraživanja su zorno i nedvojbeno dokazali kako nultu tako i sve ostale pomoćne hipoteze koje redom potvrđuju značajan utjecaj ICT na ostvarene prosječne cijene odnosno ukupne prihode hotela, smanjenje troškova energije hotela, kao i bolje rezultate kvalitete hotela na društvenim mrežama. Prikazani rezultati istraživanja su također zorno i nedvojbeno dokazali i da brendirani hoteli u sklopu nacionalnog ili međunarodnog hotelskog lanca s razvijenijim upravljačkim alatima i aktivnostima hotelskih operacija postižu višu razinu poslovne izvrsnosti od hotela koji nisu brendirani, kao i to da hoteli koji imaju uspostavljeni sustav upravljanja troškovima imaju višu razinu bruto operativne dobiti hotela od hotela koji nemaju uspostavljeni sustav upravljanja troškovima.
Abstract (english) Internet era together with the application of modern ICT in hotel business has irrevocably changed some of the basic concepts of contemporary hospitality business. With Internet and contemporary ICT almost all hotel operations occur in real time, which we may witness every day in processes ranking from sales of lodging capacities and the management of business results to the constant interaction with guests, employees and the other stakeholders of business excellence of a hotel. Challenged by owners' interests on one side and workers' on the other, as well as by guests' values on the third and the company's interests on the fourth side – the hotel manager may nowadays steer his/her hotel in a zone of long-term stability and of potential and perspective growth only by his/her continuous and well-balanced management of interest zones of each of the aforementioned stakeholders of modern business. This assumption was a base for the business excellence model HOBEM (Hotel Operation Business Excellence Model).Purpose of this doctoral thesis was to analyse the business excellence (B.E.) of a hotel by itself, as well as in a context of continuous and rapid growth of ICT, i.e. in a context of ICT’s influence to hotel B.E. by itself. Therefore hotel’s B.E. model as presented herein is structured and brought forward next to the model of ICT excellence of a hotel, all serving to a goal of confirming the following initial („zero“) hypothesis: „Hotels reaching higher scores, i.e. the ones having implemented some higher levels of information and communication infrastructure, also reach the higher B.E. results deriving from the B.E. model based on management tools, activities and success indicators of hotel operations.“ The research results have clearly and unambiguously proven the initial and other supporting hypotheses, all of which confirmed the significant influence of ICT to average prices achieved, i.e. to total revenues of a hotel, in reduction of hotel energy costs, as well as to better results of quality polls on social networks. Research results have also clearly and unambiguously proven that branded hotels operating within national or international hotel chain with more developed managerial tools and hotel operations' activities achieve higher B.E. level than the non-branded hotels, as well as that the hotels with structured cost management system reach higher gross operating profit levels than the hotels lacking such a system.
