Rezultati ovoga istraživačkog rada pokazuju statistički značajnu snažnu negativnu korelaciju (p<0,01) između kvalitete života u svim domenana i stupnja onesposobljenja osoba s kroničnom boli u lumbalnoj kralježnici.
Abstract (english) Low back pain is a common phenomenon which many experience throughout their lives, whereas chronic low back pain is defined as condition which lasts 3 months or longer. Indirect and direct costs of chronic low back pain are high and represent both individual and major socio-economic problem. People suffering from chronic low back pain often have difficulties in maintaining quality of life and usually have lower quality of life than the healthy individuals. Chronic low back pain doesn't effect only physical health, but also leaves consequences on psychological health and social relationships. It is, therefore, important to observe chronic pain through a biopsychosocial model, instead of the traditional biomedical model. The purpose of this graduate thesis was to determine the correlation between quality of life and the degree of disability in people who suffer from chronic low back pain. Design of this research is cross-sectional study, which was conducted in period of one month in University hospital „Sveti Duh“. There were 41 participants included in this study - all of them patients of the Department of physical medicine and rehabilitation UH „Sveti Duh“. Questionnaire of the World Health Organization WHOQOL-BREF was used as a measure of quality of life, while the Oswestry questionnaire was used as an instrument for the assessment of disability level in people with chronic low back pain. Results of this research indicate that there is statistically significant strong negative correlation (p<0,01) between quality of life in all its domains and the degree of disability, in people with chronic low back pain. Also, this research pointed out that people with severe disability have lower quality of life in all its domains, compared to people with moderate and mild disability level. These results are in favor of biopsychosocial approach to chronic low back pain, in regards to traditional biomedical approach..
