Tanzania has a high maternal mortality rate, as a result of severe lack of necessary protective resources for securing a safe environment during the stay at the clinical health care centre.This paper describes the observations during the visit to the Levolosi Health Care Center in Arusha, with a detailed review of the role of midwives and emphasizes the importance of their contribution to the preservation of women's health. The obstetrics department is separated according to the principles of care for women and infants before, during and after childbirth. A pregnant woman controls her pregnancy by regularly visiting a doctor, drawing the required medical reports and consistently following the doctor's instructions. The method of completing childbirth depends on the woman's and the fetus' health and present circumstances. By giving birth in a delivery room or by caesarean section, a woman is in a constant lack of privacy, exposed to various risk factors and potentially life-threatening complications. The postpartum period is marked by health controls of the puerpera's recovery as well as monitoring the progress of the newborn's development. For the purpose of future family planning, all health professionals participate in counseling and education of women. The midwife is present in all segments of a woman's reproductive health and strives to act as a psychological, physical and emotional support.
