Abstract
Štitnjača je jedna od endokrinih žlijezda koja utječe na funkcije drugih organa i odgovorna je za homeostazu u tijelu. Iz tog je razloga poremećaj rada štitnjače ozbiljan medicinski problem koji zahtijeva pažljivu dijagnozu i sveobuhvatan tretman. Prekomjerno lučenje hormona štitnjače dovodi do hipertireoze, a obrnuto, nedovoljna aktivnost hormona štitnjače rezultira hipotireozom. Glavni simptomi hipotireoze su umor, pospanost, debljanje, gubitak kose, suha koža, zaborav, zatvor i depresija. Da bi došlo do sinteze i pravilne funkcije hormona štitnjače (HT), potrebni su mnogi mikronutrijenti poput joda, selena i cinka. Ostale tvari iz unosa hrane mogu utjecati na rad štitnjače, uključujući glikozinolate, gluten, izoflavone i flavonoide. Prehrana je jedan od čimbenika rizika za nastanak i pogoršanje hipotireoze.
Abstract (english)
The thyroid is one of endocrine glands affects other organs and it is responsible for homeostasis in the body. For this reason, thyroid dysfunction is a serious medical problem which demands careful diagnosis and comprehensive treatment. Excessive secretion of homone causes hyperthyroidism and inversely, insufficient activity leads to hypothyroidism. Main symptoms of hypothyroidism are tiredness, sleepiness, weight gain, hair loss, dry skin, oblivion and depression. For the synthesis and proper function of thyroid hormones are needed micronutrients such as iodine, selenium and zinc. Other substances from food may affect thyroid function including, glucosinolates, gluten, isoflavones and flavonoids. The diet is one of factors for the development and deterioration of hypothyroidism.
