Kvaliteta života je subjektivni osjećaj i doživljaj svakog pojedinca, a ona podrazumijeva unutarnji mir, radost i zadovoljstvo životom, život bez posebne opterećenosti, straha i neizvjesnosti.
Zaključak: Liječenje fibrilacije atrija uvođenjem novih metoda liječenja u velikoj mjeri pomaže ublažiti simptome i poboljšati kvalitetu života.
Abstract (english) Introduction: Atrial fibrillation is the most common arrhythmia after extrasystole that significantly affects quality of life and mortality. The most common causes of FA are age, hypertension, coronary heart disease, heart failure, obesity, mitral valve disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism. Symptoms reported by patients are palpitations, shortness of breath, headache, fatigue, chest pain. In maintaining sinus rhythm, FA ablation is a more effective method than antiarrhythmic drug therapy. Quality of life is the subjective feeling and experience of each individual, and it implies inner peace, joy and satisfaction with life, life without special burden, fear and uncertainty. Questionnaires intended to assess the quality of life of patients with FA are AF-Qol and AFEQT questionnaires.
Methods: A retrospective clinical study was conducted in patients with atrial fibrillation who underwent ablation treatment at the Department of Arrhythmias of the University Hospital Center Rijeka in the period from 01.01.2019. to 31.12.2019. years. The AFEQT questionnaire was used to examine quality of life.
The aim of the study: was to analyze the values of the AFEQT questionnaire before and after atrial fibrillation ablation. Additional study objectives were to compare the values of the AFEQT questionnaire before and after ablation depending on gender, age, presence of arterial hypertension, type of ablation performed and body weight
Results: The overall score of the AFEQT questionnaire was statistically significantly better after ablation. Respondents under the age of 65 achieved a statistically significantly better overall score on the AFEQT questionnaire. Male respondents report higher levels of quality of life by the overall score of the AFEQT questionnaire. Subjects with higher body weight achieved statistically significantly lower results in the overall result of the AFEQT questionnaire after ablation
Conclusion: Treating atrial fibrillation by introducing new treatment methods greatly helps alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. Comparing the results of this study with the literature, we can conclude that atrial ablation is a justified method of treating atrial fibrillation that significantly raises the quality of life of patients.
