Abstract (english) INTRODUCTION: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures are a combination of resuscitation measures used to restore adequate heart and lung function to a patient who has stopped breathing and / or whose heart has stopped beating. Continuous education and development of specific skills are the most important aspects of nursing progress, and the contribution of this paper to the nursing profession is to demonstrate the importance of education and continuous training in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation of an adult.
OBJECTIVE: The aim of the research is to examine the level of knowledge of nurses / technicians about cardiopulmonary resuscitation of adults. The specific objectives of the research are: to determine and compare the level of knowledge about cardiopulmonary resuscitation of adults with regard to the place of work, to determine the relationship between the level of education of nurses and the level of knowledge about cardiopulmonary resuscitation of adults.
METHODS AND MATERIALS: Cross-sectional research was conducted, and descriptive statistics methods were used. The respondents are nurses / technicians at the sites of KBC Zagreb and KBC Rijeka, and the observed group differs with regard to the length of early service, type of department and level of education. Data were collected in the period from March 25, 2022. to 30.03.2022. The evaluation of the theoretical knowledge of nurses / technicians was conducted through an anonymous questionnaire covering 4 general and 13 specific questions.
RESULTS: Using the Kruskal-Wallis H test, the significance for the total correct answers shows that p has a value of less than 5% p <0.05 so it can be said, with a 95% confidence level, that there is a statistically significant difference with respect to the location of the current employment. The analysis of all data showed that the level of significance shows that the test value is p> 0.05, which means that no statistically significant difference was observed with regard to the level of education and years of service of the respondents.
CONCLUSION: In order to ensure quality nursing care during the resuscitation procedure, but also insight into post-resuscitation care, it is important to design a systematic and standardized formal education of nurses / technicians. A key aspect of the efficiency and quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation relates to education that would enable the preparation, in practice and theoretical knowledge, of health professionals for the proper conduct of emergency medical procedures and assistance to vulnerable persons.
