Abstract (english) The term polytrauma is described as an injury in which at least two bodies are killed at the same time, in which at least one injury or a combination of them more often endangers the patient's life. Due to the possible complications that polytrauma can cause, knowledge of first aid as well as the care of polytrauma by health professionals is very important.
The research is of a cross-sectional type on the topic "Knowledge of nursing students on the care of polytrauma", and the aim of the research was to assess the knowledge of nursing students on the care of polytrauma. The specific objectives of the research were to determine the level of knowledge of full-time nursing students about the care of polytrauma and to determine the difference in knowledge between full-time nursing students in relation to part-time nursing students. Respondents were full-time and part-time first, second and third year nursing students at the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka, and the material used to assess their knowledge was a survey conducted in Google Forms (Appendix A). According to the stated specific goals, the results of the research show that the knowledge of full-time students is sufficient because more than half of the respondents solved more than 50% of the tasks in the surveys exactly according to which the first hypothesis is rejected. Given the second specific goal, the result of the research is that part-time nursing students have no more knowledge than full-time nursing students, so the second hypothesis is rejected. The difference in the level of knowledge of full-time students is statistically significantly larger than the level of knowledge of part-time students, where p = 0.009.
Considering the goal, the obtained results provide an insight that the knowledge of nursing students about the care of polytrauma is at an extremely high level, which is a good indicator of the quality of student education. Also, according to the obtained results, given the resolved surveys between full-time and part-time students, there is a need to strengthen the education of part-time students within the course, which includes "Emergency-nursing approach".
