Abstract
Tumor mozga je abnormalna izraslina koja može zahvatiti različite dijelove živčanog sustava. Tumor mozga može se pojaviti u svakoj dobnoj skupini. Dijele se na primarne i sekundarne tumore. Primarni tumori mogu nastati iz raznih dijelova tkiva mozga a sekundarni su metastaze drugih tumora.(npr. tumora pluća) Primarne tumore možemo podijeliti na glijalne i neglijalne. Najmaligniji tumor mozga je glioblastom. Uzroci nastanka tumora mozga još uvijek nisu poznati iako se smatra da neki od čimbenika rizika su izlaganje ionizirajućem zračenju te određena genska sklonost. Zbog moderne tehnologije koju svakodnevno koristimo, istražuje se utječe li korištenje mobitela na razvoj raka mozga. Simptomi koji se javljaju ovise o vrsti tumora, njegovoj lokalizaciji te o veličini. Najčešće se pojavljuje glavobolja, povraćanje, epileptički napadaji, promjene kognitivnog funkcioniranja. Danas su dostupne brojne dijagnostičke metode otkrivanja tumora. Neke od dijagnostičkih metoda su kompjuterizirana tomografija (CT), magnetska rezonanca (MR), PET, laboratorijski nalazi, biopsije. Metode liječenja tumora mozga su kirurško odstranjivanje tumora, radioterapija i kemoterapija a najčešće se koristi kombinacija ovih metoda.
Abstract (english)
Brain tumor is an abnormal enlargement that can interfere different parts of nervous system. Brain tumor may appear in each age group. They are divided into primary and secondary tumors. Primary tumors can arise from various parts of the brain, and secondary tumors are metastases of other tumors. (eg lung tumors) Primary tumors can be divide into glial and nonglial. The most malignant brain tumor is glioblastoma. Causes of brain tumors are stil unknown although some of the risk factors are exposure to ionizing radiation and a certain genetic predisposition. Because of the modern technology we use every day, it is investigatig whether cell phone use affects development of brain cancer. Symptoms that occur depend on the type of tumor, its location and size. Most common symptoms are headache, vomiting, epileptic seizures and changes in congitive function. Numerous diagnostic methods of tumor detection are available today. Some of the diagnostic methods are computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR), PET, laboratory finds, biopsy. Methods of treating brain tumors include surgical removal of tumors, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Most commonly we use combination of these methods.
