Abstract
Hipoksemija je jedan od čestih uzroka smrti u zemljama u razvoju. Međutim, troškovno učinkoviti načini za rješavanje hipoksije i hipoksemije su zanemareni u trenutnim globalnim strategijama. Istraživanja su pokazala da poboljšana opskrba kisikom i rano otkrivanje hipoksije drastično smanjuje stopu smrtnosti. Koncentratori kisika jedan su od najjeftinijih i najdostupnijih izvora kisika u zdravstvenim ustanovama, ali i u kućnim uvjetima gdje su napajanja pouzdana. Provođenje i održavanje koncentratora kisika zahtijeva jačanje zdravstvenih sustava, zajedno s kliničarima, medicinskim osobljem, administratorima i tehničarima. Programi napravljeni kako bi se lakše koristila impulsna oksimetrija i koncentrator kisika predstavljaju jedan od pozitivnih napredaka u poboljšanju kvalitete skrbi te primjer uspješne integracije odgovarajuće tehnologije u kliničku skrb. Ovaj završni rad se bavi pregledom aktualnih saznanja koji se tiču korištenja i održavanja koncentratora kisika u Hrvatskoj te zemljama u razvoju.
Abstract (english)
Hypoxaemia is one of the most common problem that causes death in developing countries. However,the cost-effective ways to address hypoxaemia are ignored by current global strategies. Studies have shown that the improvement in oxygen supplies and early recognition of hypoxaemia drastically reduces death rates. Oxygen concentrators are one of the least expensive and most consistent source of oxygenin health facilities and homes where there is a reliable power supply. Implementation and sustainability of oxygen concentrators require progress in health systems with clinicians, teachers, administrators and technicians working together. Programmes that are focused on the use of pulse oximetry and oxygen concentrators are one of the positive examples of improving quality of care and a good example of successful integration of appropriate technology into clinical care. This thesis will give a practical and up-to-date review of using and maintaining oxygen concentrators in Croatia and other developing countries.
