Abstract | UVOD: Aritmije podrazumijevaju širok spektar poremećaja srčanog ritma s globalnom
Kardioverzija dovodi do uspješne konverzije abnormalnog srčanog ritma u sinusni ritam u
Statistica (Version 13.5.0.17, 1984-2018 TIBCO Software Inc). Kolmogorov-Smirnovljev
REZULTATI: Unutar navedenog vremenskog razdoblja u Thalassoterapiji Opatija planirana
muškaraca i 34,18% (n=27) žena.
a prosječna dob žena 66,48 godina.
Abstract (english) | INTRODUCTION: Arrhythmias include a wide spectrum of heart rhythm disorders with a
global prevalence of 1.5% to 5% in the general population. Atrial fibrillation and undulation
are the most common forms of cardiac arrhythmias and share risk factors such as older age,
male gender, arterial hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and accompanying surgical
interventions, and obesity. Cardioversion leads to successful conversion of abnormal heart
rhythm to sinus rhythm in 90% of cases.
OBJECTIVE: The aim of the research was to show the number of patients who underwent
planned cardioversion in Thalassotherapy Opatija, in the period from 01.01.2018. until
01.01.2020. The secondary objectives of the research were to analyze and present patients
who underwent planned cardioversion in the specified period according to gender, age and
indications for cardioversion.
METHODS: Data were collected from medical records through the hospital's IT system and
were processed using Microsoft Office Excel 2016 and Statistica (Version 13.5.0.17, 1984-
2018 TIBCO Software Inc). The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to test the normality of
the data distribution, the differences in the age of the subjects were tested using the Student Ttest for independent samples, and the Fisher exact test was used to compare the difference in
frequencies. A statistical significance level of 0.05 (5%) was taken for all tests.
RESULTS: Within the specified period, planned cardioversion was performed in
Thalassotherapy Opatija in a total of 79 subjects, of which 65.82% (n=52) were men and
34.18% (n=27) were women. The average age of the respondents was 66.22 years, and the
average age of the male respondents was younger than the women, and their average age was
66.08 years, and the average age of the women was 66.48 years. Overall, 16.46% (n=13) of
respondents under the age of 60 and 83.54% (n=66) of respondents who are 60 years or older
participated in the research. The most common indication for performing cardioversion was
atrial fibrillation in a total of 82.28% (n=65) of cases, while atrial undulation was the
indication in the remaining 17.72% (n=14) of cases.
CONCLUSION: Planned cardioversion is most often performed in men over 60 years old
with a diagnosis of atrial fibrillation or undulation |
