Abstract
SAŽETAK Uvod: Sada kada se događaju velike promjene (digitalizacija, užurbanost života, epidemiološka situacija) mentalno zdravlje privuklo je veću pažnju šire javnosti. Svjedočimo velikom porastu raznih poremećaja mentalnog funkcioniranja. Stoga, korisno je vidjeti gdje se nalazimo mi kao društvo sada, sa stavovima o brizi za vlastito mentalno zdravlje i koliko aktivno radimo na tom području. Cilj: Cilj istraživanja je ispitati znanje o mentalnom zdravlju, stavove i brigu za mentalno zdravlje za odrasle osobe u Republici Hrvatskoj. U radu će se također istražiti da li je veće znanje o mentalnom zdravlju povezano s boljom brigom o mentalnom zdravlju pojedinca. Metode: U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 317 punoljetnih ispitanika oba spola koji žive na području Republike Hrvatske. Uz socidemografski upitnik u istraživanju je korišten upitnik na temu mentalnog zdravlja. Upitnik je sačinjavao dio kojeg je kreirala studentica u svrhu ispitivanja potrebe i brige za mentalno zdravlje te MHLS (eng. Mental Health Literacy Scale) ljestvicu kojom se je ispitivala zdravstvena pismenost i stavovi o mentalnom zdravlju. Rezultati: Ispitanici s boljim znanjem o mentalnom zdravlju, više brinu za svoje mentalno zdravlje. Mlađa dob i veći stupanj obrazovanja, povezani su s boljim znanjem na teme mentalnog zdravlja. Postoji razlika između potrebe za savjetovanjem i/ili psihoterapijom u odnosu na uključenost u proces savjetovanja i/ili psihoterapije. Zaključak: Potrebno je ulagati napore u edukaciju stanovništva na teme mentalnog zdravlja kako bi se utjecalo na bolje mentalno zdravlje naše populacije.
Abstract (english)
ABSTRACT Introduction: Now that major changes are taking place (digitalisation, hustle and bustle of life, epidemiological situation), mental health has attracted more attention from the public. We are witnessing an increase in number of people with various mental disorders. Therefore, it is useful to see where we are as a society now, our attitudes about taking care of our own mental health and how actively we are working in this area. Objective: The objective of the research is to examine knowledge about mental health, attitudes, and mental health care for adults in the Republic of Croatia. The paper will also investigate whether greater individual knowledge about mental health is associated with better care for an individual’s mental health. Methods: The participants in this research were 317 adults, both men and women, living in the Republic of Croatia. In addition to the socio-demographic questionnaire, a questionnaire on the topic of mental health was also used in the research. The questionnaire consisted of a part created by a student for the purpose of examining the need and concern for mental health, as well as MHLS scale, which examined health literacy and attitudes about mental health. Results: Respondents with better knowledge about mental health issues, care more about their mental health. Younger population with better/higher level of education have better understanding of their own mental health problems. There is a difference though, between requiring counselling and/or psychotherapy versus acquiring help in form of counselling and or psychotherapy sessions.
