Abstract | UVOD: Posljednjih dvadesetak godina Europa se suočila s brojnim prirodnim, tehnološkim i kompleksnim katastrofama čiji utjecaj predstavlja prijetnju zdravlju izložene populacije.
CILJ ISTRAŽIVANJA: Istražiti i opisati razinu znanja, stavove i potrebe za edukacijom MS/MT izvanbolničke hitne medicinske službe u Hrvatskoj u primarnoj trijaži prilikom velikih nesreća.
Abstract (english) | INTRODUCTION: In the last twenty years, Europe has faced numerous natural, technological, and complex disasters, the impact of which poses a threat to the health of the exposed population. In the event of disasters, all emergency services (police, firefighters, and health workers) play a major role in aiding. In these cases, health and medical centers and staff, especially nurses/technicians (N/T), should be well prepared to cope with the increased demand for medical care. A review of the literature revealed a smaller number of studies focused on N/T preparedness for disasters and major accidents. The purpose of this research paper is to investigate and describe the educational needs and degree of preparedness of N/T outpatient emergency medical services in major accidents.
RESEARCH GOAL: To investigate and describe the level of knowledge, attitudes, and needs for education of N/T outpatient emergency medical services in Croatia in primary triage during major accidents. The specific objectives were to investigate the influence of age and length of service on the knowledge, readiness, and abilities of N/T in the event of major accidents.
RESPONDENTS AND METHODS: 134 N/T, both sexes and aged 18-55, participated in the research. The survey was conducted in the entire territory of the Republic of Croatia via an anonymous online survey during June 2023.
RESULTS: 43% of men and 57% of women participated in the survey, and the largest number of respondents is in the age group of 26-35 years. Most respondents have a secondary vocational education (49%), between 11-20 years of work experience (35%), and work in branches in PGŽ. As many as 57% of them did not take a course for major accidents, while more than 90% of respondents believe that they need it. A low level of knowledge of the subjects related to major accidents was determined.
CONCLUSION: Although only one hypothesis of the work was confirmed, the research showed that there is a great need for N/T education in outpatient EMS, and that knowledge, readiness, and perception of one's own abilities do not depend on age or length of service. |
