Abstract UVOD: Provođenje znanstveno-istraživačkog rada ključno je za unaprjeđenje postojećih i formiranje novih metoda i tehnika dijagnostike i liječenja, odnosno uspostavljanje prakse utemeljene na dokazima koja omogućuje stalna poboljšanja zdravlja stanovništva i smanjenje globalnih zdravstvenih nejednakosti.
Abstract (english) INTRODUCTION: Conducting scientific and research work is essential for the continuous improvement and formation of new diagnostic and treatment methods and techniques, the establishment of evidence-based practice that enables continuous improvements in the health of the population and the reduction of global health inequalities.
OBJECTIVE: The main objective of the research was to examine the attitudes of nursing students towards scientific and research work and to compare them regarding the academic year, age and gender of the respondents.
METHODS: Data were collected through an online questionnaire published on the Google Forms platform, and a link to the questionnaire was published using the Facebook social network to user groups of nurses/technicians. The questionnaire consisted of two parts, of which the first part of the questionnaire consisted of 4 questions about the sociodemographic data of the respondents and 5 questions about interest in scientific and research work. The second part of the questionnaire examined students' attitudes towards scientific research work using a questionnaire consisting of 15 statements, and for each statement the respondents had to choose the answer that most applies to them on a Likert scale from 0 to 5. The result of the questionnaire it was calculated as the sum of the responses, and a higher score indicated a more positive attitude. Statistical data processing was carried out using the Statistica program, and students' attitudes towards scientific and research work were presented using the arithmetic mean and standard deviation and compared regarding the academic year, age and gender of the respondents using the Chi-square test at the level of statistical significance p < 0.05 (5%).
RESULTS: 55 nursing students participated in the research, most of whom (78.2%) have a natural attitude towards scientific research work. The respondents' attitude towards scientific research work does not differ significantly regarding the academic year, that is, with regard to the passage of time since attending the course on the methodology of scientific research work. Also, the attitude of the respondents does not differ significantly considering the age and gender of the respondents included in the research.
CONCLUSION: Scientific-research work is crucial for the improvement of nursing and the formation of evidence-based practice, but the nursing study program does not motivate students to conduct and study scientific-research work.
