Abstract
Starenje stanovništva postaje sve značajniji društveni problem koji pogađa cjelokupno stanovništvo, a najviše se osjeti u razvijenim državama. Starija populacija je sve brojnija, pa rješavanje njihovih problema dobiva sve veći društveni značaj. Demografska kretanja pokazuju da će problem starenja stanovništva u narednim godinama biti još izraženiji, te je nužno osmisliti sustav skrbi koji će biti održiv, a koji će starijim pripadnicima zajednice osigurati dostojanstven život. Odnos društva prema najstarijoj skupini odražava njegovu zrelost, pa tako sve odgovorne države stvaraju učinkovite sustave pomoći svojim najstarijim građanima. U Republici Hrvatskoj su na razinama Županija ustrojeni gerontološki timovi koji brinu o svim aspektima pomoći pripadnicima treće životne dobi. Svaki oblik diskriminacije, pa tako i po osnovi kalendarske starosti predstavlja veliku nepravdu prema pojedincima, pogotovo ako se zna da su ti pojedinci dali veliki doprinos izgradnji i razvoju društva.
Abstract (english)
Population aging is becoming an increasingly significant social problem affecting the entire population, most notably in developed countries. The elderly population is growing in number, and so solving their problems is gaining increasing social significance. Demographic trends show that the problem of an aging population will be even more pronounced in the coming years, and it is necessary to devise a system of care that will be sustainable and that will provide a dignified life for the elderly. The attitude of society towards the oldest group reflects its maturity, and thus all responsible states create effective systems of support for their oldest citizens. In the Republic of Croatia, gerontology teams have been set up at the County level to take care of all aspects of assistance to members of the third age group. Every form of discrimination, even on the basis of calendar age, is a great injustice to individuals, especially if it is known that these individuals have made a great contribution to the construction and development of society.
