Zaključak: Postoji malo studija o zadovoljstvu poslom zdravstvenih djelatnika, a posebice fizioterapeuta. |
Abstract (english) | Introduction: The World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) advocates that the profession of physical therapy is responsible for articulating the profession’s scope of practice and defining the roles of physical therapists. It is considered that there is a relationship between job satisfaction and job performance. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), countries are constantly facing challenges in building human capacity within the health care system. Job satisfaction is characterized by a match between employees' expectations and aims from their institutions and is expressed by professional attitudes, beliefs, knowledge, behavior and assessments. Subjects and methods: The study involved 166 participants with a range from 18 to 65 years old. The survey questionnaire was distributed to all respondents via the Google Form. The questionnaire was shared via social networks on the page of Physiotherapists group in the Republic of Croatia and via electronic mail. Data collection was performed in August 2019. All data has been analysed using IBM statistic program SPSS 22. Results: Estimating the reliability of the scale with the help of Cronbach-alpha, it was found that it was reliable (α = 0.9) and the average score on the scale was 3, which represents a slight dissatisfaction with the work of a physiotherapist in the Republic of Croatia. Physiotherapists belonging to the age group from 18 to 30 years old were statistically significantly more satisfied (X = 113.72, SD = 25.94) than the age group from 41 to 50 years old (X = 93.67, SD = 22). This is also statistically significant in the communication subscale ( X = 117.13, SD = 28.47). Respondents who work in a private institution are statistically more satisfied (X=117.13, SD=28.47) with the job of physiotherapists in the Republic of Croatia than those who work in a public institution (X = 102.64, SD = 20.73) and those who perform in-home physiotherapy (X = 102.59, SD = 20.46). It turned out to be statistically significant on the subscales as contingent rewards, coworkers, promotion and communication as well. Conclusion: There are few studies about the job satisfaction of health professionals, especially physiotherapists. This research was conducted on physiotherapists of the Republic of Croatia and it is statistically proven that physiotherapists in the Republic of Croatia are not satisfied with their job. The research also speaks about the need for raising awareness of dissatisfaction with the profession in the Republic of Croatia. Moreover, the action is needed at much larger levels of the state. The recognition of the profession itself is still questionable considering the lack of a system of reconciliation between education and the labor market. |
