The prevalence of osteoarthritis (OA) is increasing for reasons that are not fully explained. OA is possibly an evolutionary disease of mismatch, which is more common today than in the past. Because the cure for OA does not yet exist, it is an important prevention strategy that seeks to change certain behavioral factors. In this way, we can try to reduce the prevalence of the epidemic. Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disease today, affecting 17% of the population, while in 35% of cases, the knee joint is affected. Epidemiological and clinical indicators suggest OA to be a primary mechanically-induced disease in addition to a genetic factor that further contributes to the severity of the disease and also depends on gender and body mass index (23). One of the first hypotheses for inflammation in OA is about fifteen years old and opened the door to research into the use of a new type of anticytokine drug in the treatment of OA, which has contributed significantly to a better understanding of the nature of OA, but not to the point of approving their introduction into OA treatment (24). . We analyzed 30 patients treated for osteoarthritis from May 1 to July 1, 2019, on an outpatient basis at Arithera Special Hospital. We used a questionnaire to take the demographic information of the subjects, and to assess the nutritional status, physical activity and dietary habits of the patients through three questionnaires. We found that more women had OA, the most common segments affected by OA were the knee and hip, and the patients were overweight and engaged in physical activity in the low to moderate levels. Although the study was conducted on a small number of samples and a short period of research, the results are generally similar to the literature data.
