Abstract
Usvajanje „Direktive o otvorenim podacima“ iz 2019. godine potaknulo je pokretanje projekta „Open Maps for Europe“, s ciljem osiguravanja pristupačnih i homogenih geoprostornih podataka iz više od 40 europskih zemalja. Ovaj diplomski rad istražuje prikladnost podataka projekta Open Maps for Europe za izradu opće geografske karte Europe u mjerilu 1:10 000 000. Karta uključuje osnovne informacije o naseljima, prometnicama, vodama, oblicima reljefa i granicama teritorijalnih područja, prilagođene potrebama učenika osnovnih škola za obrazovne svrhe. Istraživanje je pokazalo da su podaci projekta Open Maps for Europe uglavnom prikladni za ovu svrhu, ali su istaknuti izazovi kao što su heterogenost podataka među zemljama, nedostatak podataka na određenim područjima, neadekvatna generalizacija i neujednačena geometrija. Karta je trenutno dostupna za slobodno korištenje, no važno je napomenuti da se radi o međuproizvodu. Nužna je dodatna stroga kontrola kvalitete kako bi se osigurala potpuna preciznost, pouzdanost i dosljednost informacija na karti te njihova usklađenost s kartografskim standardima.
Abstract (english)
The acceptance of the "Open Data Directive" in 2019 prompted the launch of the "Open Maps for Europe" project, with the aim of providing accessible and homogeneous geospatial data from more than 40 European countries. This thesis examines the suitability of data from the Open Maps for Europe project for creating a general geographical map of Europe at a scale of 1:10 000 000. The map includes basic information about settlements, roads, waters, landforms and borders of territorial areas, adapted to the needs of elementary school students for educational purposes. The research showed that the data of the Open Maps for Europe project is mostly suitable for this purpose, but challenges such as heterogeneity of data between countries, lack of data in certain areas, inadequate generalization and uneven geometry were highlighted. The map is currently available for free use, but it is important to note that it is an intermediate product. Additional strict quality control is necessary to ensure complete accuracy, reliability and consistency of information on the map and their compliance with cartographic standards.
