The enhancement of soil properties has been a subject of ongoing research and improvement since the beginning of construction practise. The initial part of this master's thesis presents a review of contemporary literature related to several approaches for improving soil properties, with special emphasis on the impact of geogrids in enhancing soil quality. Geogrids possess a range of attributes that make them incredibly versatile for use in a wide range of construction endeavours, including soil structures, pavement and railway constructions, erosion control, and numerous other applications. Geogrids are used for the purpose of stabilising and reinforcing soil, and their characteristics have been thoroughly examined in various soil interactions, depending on their composition and the specific soil conditions in which they are used. The second part of the thesis includes the results and interpretation of the model resarch. This research involved the implementation of a static plate load test on a total of twentyone soil samples, adhering to the guidelines outlined in the German standard DIN 18134:2001-09. This study aims to examine the interaction between three different geogrid types and three different backfill types, each characterised by different grain diameter. The primary aim of this experiment is to illustrate the impact of geogrids on soil settlement when subjected to cyclic loading conditions. The investigation examines the elastic modulus measurements (Ev49, Ev50, Ev99 and Ev100) throughout the initial, 50th, and 100th iterations of loading, unloading, and reloading.
