Abstract
Stara Gradiška ima burnu i bogatu povijest koja rezultira ostacima kulturnih dobara. Zbog svog specifičnog položaja kroz povijest imala je određene dobrobiti ili je trpjela radi njih. Prva asocijacija na spomen imena naselja Stara Gradiška je Zatvor Stara Gradiška ili koncentracijski logor za vrijeme NDH. U proteklih 500. godina ovo područje je bilo ili zatvor ili granica. Tvrđava Stara Gradiška izgrađena je u 18. stoljeću i imala je strateški položaj na granicama civilizacija toga doba. Godine 1921. starogradiška utvrda postaje kaznionica, tijekom 2. svjetskog rata koncentracijski logor, a potom kazneno-popravni dom. Kula je uvrštena u kulturna dobra Republike Hrvatske. Utvrda pripada javnoj ustanovi Spomen-područje Jasenovac koja ju treba zaštititi od daljnjeg propadanja. U Hrvatskoj se već dugi niz godina razmatra rješenje o prenamjeni već postojećih građevina koje su neiskorištene i napuštene, što je uzrok društveno-ekonomskih promjena 90-tih godina prošlog stoljeća. Postojeće prostore treba promatrati kao potencijale te je nužno valorizirati sve njihove vrijednosti od onih koje su povijesne i one koje su izgradile identitet stanovnika i izuzetno značajne. U Staroj Gradiški je nužno zgradu zatvora analizirati i prezentirati kao fizički dokaz jednog vremena. Aktivacijom postojećih prostora se otvaraju različite mogućnosti razvoja ovog kraja.
Abstract (english)
Stara Gradiška has a turbulent and rich history that results in the remains of cultural assets. Due to its specific position throughout history, it has had certain benefits or suffered for them. The first recorded institution with the name is Stara Gradiška prison or concentration camp that was built during the NDH. For the past 500 years, this area has been either a prison or a border. The Stara Gradiška fortress was used as a penitentiary. During the Second World War, it was first converted to a concentration camp before being used as a penitentiary again. The fortress belongs to the Jasenovac Memorial Site public institution, which needs to be protected from further deterioration. In Croatia, for many years, the decision on the converting already existing unused and abandoned buildings has been debated. This is the effect of the socio-economic changes of the 90s of the last century. Infrastructure should be viewed as spaces with potential. It is necessary to recognize their signficant value, from their history to their role in building residents' identity. In Stara Gradiška, it is necessary to analyze and present the prison structure as the physical evidence of a previous time. The restoration of existing spaces opens up avenues for various possibilities in the development of this area.
