Abstract
Obalna je zona jedan od najsloženijih i najdinamičnijih područja na Zemlji. Pod utjecajem mora, kopna i zraka, bez prestanka se događaju različite morfološke promjene. U najvećoj mjeri prisutne su erozija i akumulacija materijala po cijeloj obali. Ti procesi uključuju djelovanje vjetra, valova, duž-obalnih struja, leda i promjene morske razine na različite geomorfološke podloge pa je zbog toga i rezultat razvoja obala različit. Za vrijeme zadnjih nekoliko stoljeća, ovi su procesi često bili ubrzani čovjekovim djelovanjem. Danas u obalnom prostoru živi gotovo 75% svjetskog stanovništva, što je dvostruko više nego što je bilo prije 20 godina. Zbog toga se porast razine mora danas smatra jednim od najvećih svjetskih problema, a taj je proces velikom mjerom izazvan globalnim zagrijavanjem, kao posljedicom ljudskog djelovanja na klimu. U radu su opisani osnovni morski obalni procesi kao i njihovi utjecaji na morsku obalu koji su popraćeni različitim slučajevima iz cijeloga svijeta kojim je pokazano kako oni na razne načine ugrožavaju primarno stanje nekog područja i prirodna staništa živih bića, obalne infrastrukture, obalna naselja, gradove, a i život ljudi na tim područjima.
Abstract (english)
Coastal zones are one of the most complex and dynamic areas on the Earth. Under the influence of seas, land and air various morphological changes occur continually, mostly erosion and accumulation of material along entire coastal areas. These processes include the action of wind, waves, longshore currents, ice and changes in sea levels on different geomorphological substrates, and therefore the result of coastal development is different. Over the last few centuries, these processes have often been accelerated by human action. Today, almost 75% of the world's population live in coastal areas, which is twice as much as it was 20 years ago. Therefore, sea level rise is now considered one of the world's biggest problems, and this process is largely caused by global warming, which is the result of human impact on climate. The paper describes the basic marine coastal processes and their impact on the marine coast, which are accompanied by various cases from around the world. They show how these processes in various ways endanger the primary state of an area and natural habitats of living beings, coastal infrastructure, coastal settlements, cities and people`s lives in those areas.
