Abstract
Potresi su nepredvidive prirodne pojave uzrokovane velikim otpuštanjem energije, praćene kratkotrajnim i dugotrajnim podrhtavanjima tla. Nepredvidiva oslobođena energija može uzrokovati veliku materijalnu štetu i ljudske žrtve. Suvremeni istraživači nastoje razviti modele prepoznavanja predznaka potresa da bi se umanjile njegove posljedice. Kroz povijest su zabilježeni mnogi primjeri abnormalnog ponašanja životinja prije potresa. Smatra se da životinje osjećaju promjene u tlu prije potresa te da se njihovo ponašanje može koristiti za prepoznavanje predznaka potresa koji se očituju kao varijacije stresnog, električnog i magnetnog polja. „Mehanizam“ pomoću kojeg životinje percipiraju navedene varijacije nije dovoljno istražen. Jedan od potencijalnih modela predviđanja predznaka potresa je razvoj umjetnih biološkotehničkih (BioTech) senzorskih sustava, koji rade na principu životinjskih receptora.
Abstract (english)
Earthquakes are unpredictable natural phenomena caused by huge release of energy, which is accompanied by shortterm ground vibrations. Unpredictable release of energy can cause extensive material damage and human casualties. Modern researchers are trying to develop models which can help recognize early signs of earthquakes in order to minimize their consequences. Throughout history, there have been a lot of reports on abnormal animal behaviour prior to earthquakes. It is thought that animals can feel the disturbances in soil before an earthquake and that their behaviour can be used to recognize the signs of an earthquake before it hits, such as variations in stress, magnetic and electric fields. The “mechanism” by which animals perceive these variations has not been researched enough. One of the potential models for predicting earthquake signs is the development of artificial biologicaltechnical (BioTech) marker sensor systems, which are based the principle of animal receptors.
