Within this graduate thesis, analysis of the construction of a residential building in Zagreb that was damaged in earthquake of March 22, 2020 is shown. The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.5 according to the Richter scale. A building survey was performed in order to assess the structural elements condition in order to analyse mechanical resistance and stability of the building. Based on the performed analysis, certain suggestions were given to take further actions. The load bearing system of the building consists of unreinforced masonry with a flexible floor structures and the roof structure made of wood. Damage states of various structural, as well as non-structural elements are classified and appropriate photographs of damage caused by the earthquake complement their descriptions. In order to asses building seismic resistance, a computation of the out-of-plane failure for several characteristic walls is made. Furthermore, a numerical model was developed in CSI ETABS 17.0.1 where a linear computation was performed by the response spectrum method. To conclude it all technical solutions for repair and reinforcement of the load bearing structure are being suggested.
