The aim of this graduate thesis was to bring closer the concepts of game theory and public procurement and to point out their connection and all the possibilities that the application of game theory opens in the field of public procurement. The idea was that game theory is used in public procurement processes, but that the players themselves, or bidders, may not be aware of this fact and to point out the existing application and also to some new possibilities. The process of making this thesis was based on the study of the already existing literature on game theory and the making of chapter on the very foundations of game theory. This was followed by a study of the Public Procurement Act itself in order to draft a chapter that clarifies the public procurement process. In order to successfully link the two seemingly unrelated concepts, a survey was conducted in the form of an informative interview with two construction companies. Through these conversations, the real possibilities of applying game theory were noticed, as well as the desire of companies to use something like that, and shortcomings that would also occur. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of game theory is by no means a perfect approach to public procurement tenders, nor is it possible to use only such models, but combined with experience, calculations and other expert knowledge, it can certainly contribute to a better understanding of competition and increase chances of success.
