Traffic accidents cause serious consequences, whether it is injuries and loss of human life or material damage. The prevention of traffic accidents and the reduction of their consequences are key goals in the field of traffic safety. One of the ways to increase traffic safety is the use of passively reliable pillars, which are the subject of this final paper. The main task of passively reliable bollards is to reduce the possibility of injury to passengers in the vehicle during a collision with a bollard. At the beginning of the work, the types of poles that are placed along roads and the procedures for protecting them from harmful influences are described. Furthermore, the types and behavior of passively reliable columns are described, which are divided into columns that absorb energy, columns that absorb a small amount of energy, and columns that do not absorb energy. Pillars that absorb energy significantly slow down and stop the vehicle. With such pillars, plastic deformation of the pillar and its bending under the vehicle occurs. Unlike them, with poles that do not absorb energy, the vehicle does not slow down significantly and it continues to move, while the pole breaks off and falls behind the vehicle.
