This thesis presents the subject of Enviromental protection, focus is primarly directed towards waste management and the guidelines that are offering better solutions for the future. The ultimate goal is to prevent waste disposal almost entirely and to reach that goal many processes are utilized in the special centres for waste management like Kaštijun, which is a step in the right direction. In the very beginning of this thesis goals that Republic of Croatia intends to accomplish are presented. These goals are directly aligned with European standards, that standards can't be reached that easily, it's a long-term process. The list of waste is also present in this thesis along with the description of Regional centre for waste management Kaštijun. Mentioned centre is the only second in Croatia from scheduled 13 in the upcoming years. Among mentioned processes there is Mechanical biological treatment or MBT. It's a complex system which separates raw material from waste. Separation of biogas from the waste is also described, that very biogas is later used to create electrical energy. Sequencing batch reactors or SBT is a process that deserves special praise because it facilitates treatment of waste waters. That process coupled with reverse osmosis presents unavoidable duo in resolving of this problem.
