The intention of this paper is to show in which way and for which purposes printed materials can be used today in everyday communication, as well as what kinds of paper and priting techniques are available and suitable for different printed materials. As a particularly intriguing example, printed materials of a modern telecommunication company – Hrvatski Telekom d.d. – were chosen, as it is in the nature of its business activities to have access to, and make use of, various modern media of communication, but it also has a need to maintain a traditional approach to informing and animating internal and external public. The types of publications are presented according to their categories and material and main characteristics of paper printing surfaces, which appear as materials for the printing of HT's publications, are established. By measuring the grammage and thickness of paper and examining the surface processing of paper using microscope, data were established which additionally confirm the suitability of chosen materials for the type and purpose of the print media. Furthermore, it is important to emphasize that for the priting of HT's publications offset printing technique is predominantly used, which – thanks to its advantages and a very acceptable price-performance ratio – is today applied to most graphic products.
