In this thesis we dealt with the term photomontage, covered its history and the way in which it evolved into numerous artistic directions. How and in which way photomontage developed before Photoshop, we will show through some wellknown photographers who contributed to some of the first photo manipulations. We have developed numerous ways to manipulate a photograph, and also listed programs that are used, from the older ones with classic techniques to the modern “digital” ones that are mostly used today. Photo manipulation in politics, the fashion industry and in marketing, is becoming inevitable nowadays. The tools necessary for photomontage and photo editing have become widely accessible, and to some even simple to use. In todays world it appears that the demand for the use of photography as an important element in the development of graphic products, and photomontage has become a progressively common form of creative photo editing and a very valuable element of the visual appearance of the graphic product. For a tangible example, we dealt with the formation process of photomontage, and the practical part of the thesis consists of a series of photographs in which we will be showing the different techniques of photomontage; from basic photography to the final solution.
